The Music of True Detective Still Unreleased

One of True Detective’s strongest aspects comes from its music direction lead by the formidable T Bone Burnett. Burnett has been responsible for some of the greatest music scores of our time, including the fantastic O Brother, Where Art Thou? It would be easy money to bet that you’ve had the theme song — “Far From Any Road” by The Handsome Family –  stuck in your head at one point or another.

So, why then, hasn’t the soundtrack been released?

With the first season already on blu-ray, it seems like a huge oversight to leave the soundtrack unreleased. Some of the most haunting scenes from the series were made so by the beautiful score. Yes, you’re free to pick up “Far From Any Road” from iTunes, but that’s nowhere near the whole story. With True Detective being such a success, it’s puzzling why HBO has been so slow to release the score. Unless they’re saving it for later, of course.

But now would be preferable to later.
