Should Quentin Tarantino Direct True Detective?

While fans of True Detective are looking at who the next cast will consist of, another questions we’re starting to consider is who could direct the series? We’ve heard that the show will move from a one director format to a multi-director format but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a few famous faces step behind the camera if we’re going to get all excited for them to step in front of it.

More from HBO

It started as a joke, but the idea of having Oscar winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino direct even just one episode of True Detective is something that is starting to sound cooler and cooler the more and more we pointlessly consider it. Tarantino isn’t likely to hop on to a cinematic series like True Detective for just one episode, he’d want the whole season, but even that is something that HBO should maybe consider.

Should Quentin Tarantino take over True Detective?

It would no doubt be a thing of wonder as there hasn’t been a project in his career that Tarantino didn’t take with the utmost seriousness. After all, the guy had a script leak earlier this year and he started filing lawsuits, so to say Tarantino isn’t a Stanley Kubrick style perfectionist — and possible prima donna — is just incorrect.

But give him a project and it instantly becomes one of the most interesting things you’ve ever seen as he just has a knack for digging in a tweaking the inner-workings of a story to make it completely his own. And think about hte cliffhangers from episode to episode that Tarantino would leave us with as we spend a week trying to process what he has just done.

It may not be a perfect match, but a Tarantino season of True Detective would no doubt be one of the most interesting things we’ve ever seen.
