Will True Detective Get Snubbed at Emmy Awards?

The Emmy Awards will announce this year’s class of nominations next month which means we’re getting closer and closer to the moment when we will find out if True Detective gets what it deserves and earns a slew of Emmy nominations for the incredible run that it had.

But while we are all assuming that the series is going to get nominated, we need to take a step back and consider the possibility that the show will be snubbed by the committee and won’t get the nominations it deserves. No one is saying that the show won’t get any nominations at all, as that would be one of the larger travesties in television history, but the target was put on True Detective’s back by HBO themselves and there will be plenty of people both inside and outside of the voting committee gunning for the show.

True Detective didn’t make any friends when they went against the grain and declared as a Best Drama Series and not a Best Miniseries, and that’s where their problems could start. It will be a more satisfying win should True Detective pick up any actual Emmy wins, but the show now runs the risk of being snubbed in favor of Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, Mad Men and any other shows that could potentially secure Emmy bids.

It seems hard to consider that True Detective will get snubbed, but while we can expect Matthew McConaughey and probably Woody Harrelson to get nominations, nothing at all is promised to the show.
