We are starting to get deeper and deeper into True Detective rumors for the second season and the rumors are starting to separate themselves from the truth. While the official cast hasn’t yet been announced and there is no official date for fans to expect an announcement, it appears HBO is circling a huge name to take on the lead role for the new season.

According to Deadline, Colin Farrel is in deep negotiations to star in the lead role for the second season of True Detective.

"I can tell you that Colin Farrell is deep in negotiations to play one of what is expected to be three main roles in Season Two. HBO has been mum about cast so far, as rumors have swirled that Jessica Chastain and some others will be one of the other leads. HBO would not confirm any of the potential castings, but I am confident that Farrell will be in the cast."

The casting decision would be one that not many were expecting but one that would likely bring about universal praise. Farrell wasn’t one of the top names being discussed among fans, but he seems to be a perfect fit for the lead role of the older character.

It’s hard to say what level of truth there is to the rumor but it sounds like the most legitimate bit of casting news we’ve heard since the first season ended and having Colin Farrell attached to the lead role is going to make fans happy they had to wait so long for new casting information.
