True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has had his hands in a few different projects besides True Detective. A film adaptation of his novel, Galveston, is in the works though he’s not writing the script. At some point in the recent past, however, Pizzolatto did lend his talents to the remake of The Magnificent Seven, and now it appears to be moving forward faster than ever.

Granted, Nic Pizzolatto wrote a single draft of a script that has been worked on by others. According to Variety, Pizzolatto’s draft was most recently worked on by John Lee Hancock.

With so many cooks in the kitchen it’s tough to say at this point if the film will end up retaining any of Nic Pizzolatto’s now distinctive flair, but that’s par the course for many major films.

The Magnificent Seven is right in Nic Pizzolatto’s wheelhouse so hopefully the final product will still bear his mark. Production is set to begin next month. In regards to something that Nic Pizzolatto has had more direct control over, the second season of True Detective is still in production and is expected to premiere sometime in the summer.

As we eagerly await more news about True Detective season two, HBO is set to premiere its streaming service specifically aimed at cord-cutters, HBO Now. When True Detective does premiere, cord-cutters with big pockets will be able to watch it on Apple devices.
